英語でもFU(fujoshi/fudanshi)という言葉が使われているのを、このファンダムに足を踏み入れて最近知ったのだけど、それらを見るたびに、他国の文化に興味を持つのなら、もう少しだけ手を伸ばして、それらの言葉が持つニュアンス、現地でどのように使われているのかまで、思いを馳せてから使ってくれたらいいのになと思う。なんかその姿勢がすんごい暴力的に感じられてしまうんだよね。とはいえ、非日本語話者たちにそれを求めるのも違うということもわかっている。そもそも日本語圏でその言葉が浸透しているから英語圏でも使われているのだし。問題意識を持たずにそれらの言葉を乱用している日本語話者たちが沢山いるのが現状で、それらが変わらない限りどうしようもないだろうけど。ほんとなんでこういう暴力的な表現がずっと使われているんですかね。その無自覚さに頭がくらくらする。日本語話者でこの表現を使っている人たちと、非日本語話者でこの表現を使っている人達、どちらにも怒りは感じるんですけど、少し違う種類の感情かな。
こういうことを書きながらまあ改めて思うけど、特に外国語では、そのニュアンスや背景を掴めないことが多くあるから、そのキャッチーな表現を本当に使ってもいいの？って一度立ち止まり確認することが必要だと改めて思う。自戒を込めて。

If you're interested in these cultures, I'd recommend taking the time to understand the nuances of these words before using them. I think that an attitude that is unaware of such aspects of different cultures can be extremely harmful and violent.
However, I cannot criticize non-Japanese native speakers who use these words without knowing the connotations behind them. This is because many Native Japanese speakers use these words without realizing the violence of these words. Unless they become aware of the problems, these terms will continue to be used unfortunately.
At the same time, I feel that I have to try to be more aware of whether I am unintentionally hurting someone, especially when having interests in other cultures and using foreign languages.
